130 cartons of smuggled cigarettes seized

Imphal, October 19 2021:
A team of Maram Battalion of 22 Sector Assam Rifles of Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) on Tuesday seized cigarettes smuggled from Myanmar near Tadubi Petrol Pump in Senapati district.
According to sources, the smuggled cigarettes packed in 130 cartons (64,900 Cigarettes packets) were seized from a truck (NL01-AD 8740) .
The cigarette consignment is estimated to worth Rs 1.55 crore.
The recovered items along with apprehended individuals were handed over to Imphal Customs Office for further investigation, they informed.
