Candidate bats for promoting sports

Intending INC candidate from Kakching AC and social worker Yengkhom Nilachandra has stated that sports and games help prevent the youth from abusing drugs and other additive substances.
The semi-final match of the 1st State Level Open Seven A-Side Football Tournament organised by Young Pillar Football Club, Pallel was played at the playground in Pallel, Kakching district on Tuesday.
Speaking as the chief guest, Yengkhom Nilachandra pointed out that football is one of the most loved sports across the world and is highly popular among the people of Manipur.
Not only it helps keep the body healthy, the sport of football also helps in maintaining discipline, good behaviour and team work, thereby bringing about a spirit of unity among the players.
Such sports can help the youth of the state to stay away from drugs, he stressed.
Later, Nilachandra presented a cash prize of Rs 500 each to the first scorer of the two seminal matches of the tournament as encouragement.
He also extended financial assistance to the organiser of the tournament, Young Pillar Football Club.
The first semi-final match was played between Great Domain Reborn, Lamkang and Naorem Leikai FC, Tentha; while the second was played between FC Yaisa Kakching and HSYDA Thoubal.
