Gangpijang's "Chavang Anthah Lhun Kut" concludes at Kpi

Heralding arrival of the much awaited 'Chavang Kut', Gangpijang's Chavang Anthah Lhun Kut, also known as .
the 'Mother of Modern Kut' culminated in style after three days of joyous celebration at Gangpijang village in Kangpokpi district.
The three days Diamond Jubilee celebration of Gangpijang's Chavang Anthah Lhun Kut began on October 16 and culminated on October 18 while October 17 was observed as 'Kut Niloupi Nikho- the main celebration day'.
As per Hoaginlen Chongloi, member of organizing committee and author of the renown book "History, Identity and Polity of the Kukis", the Gangpijang Chavang Anthah Lhun Kut was first celebrated way back in 1961 and it is considered as the 'Mother of Modern Kut'.
On the main celebration day, Gangpijang village chief, Paolam Haokip unveiled the Diamond Jubilee celebration Monolith which was dedicated by Rev Ngamkhopao Lhungdim, Pastor KBC No 19 .
A souvenir published to mark the Diamond Jubilee celebration of the festival was also released by Mangpu Khongsai, MPS while it was dedicated by Rev.Dr Jangkholam Haokip, Director, Bethesda Khankho Institute, Churachandpur.
Moreover, before the beginning of the celebration, the organising committee also conducted 'Chavang Golseh (Sports)' from September 27 with five Lompi (groups), wherein the five Lompi competed in various Puchon Pachon (traditional activities) and traditional sports.
It may be mentioned that Chavang Kut is a post-harvest festival of the Kuki community and is one of the biggest and prominent festivals of Manipur.
