Imphal, December 09 2022:
While expressing strong resentment that at a time when efforts are underway to unite different stakeholders and framing of rules for proper operation of private rehabilitation centres in the state attempts are being made to create factionalism, Union of Treatment and Rehabilitation of Users for Social Transformation (U-Trust) co-convenor T Chandradash asserted the Union will not accept the new body of rehab centres formed under AMUCO.
Speaking to the media at its Langol office, Chandradash pointed out that the Union was formed with the representation of 62 private rehab centres to prevent factions among the stakeholders.
At a time when U-Trust in collaboration with Social Welfare Department has been working towards framing guidelines and mandatory registration of private rehab centres for smooth functioning, AMUCO sent an invitation for consultation on three agendas and formation of a new body, Chandradash informed, adding that since U-Trust had already put the proposed agendas into action the invitation was decline through a written letter to AMUCO.
Alleging that AMUCO, instead of respecting the written reply of U-Trust has formed another body christened "United Rehabilitation Centre, Manipur" with the support of some other rehab Centres, Chandradash reiterated that the Union will no longer extend any form of assistance to AMUCO including monetary donation.
