Kakching, December 09 2022:
Amidst numerous allegations of shoddy execution of works and delay in completion of road projects taken up under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in the hill districts, questions have been raised on the quality of work undertaken on the road from Rilam Centre to Sairem Saicham under Tengnoupal district.
Accompanied by media persons, 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly Election independent candidate from Tengnoupal assembly constituency TK Moshilpha inspected the present condition of the road on Thursday.
During the visit, it was found that repair work along the 33 km stretch was divided into three sections with part 1 covering Rilam Centre to Narum Old, part 2 from Narum to Sairem Saicham and part 3 from Saibol to Moirangthel.
According to the work signboards, part 1 contractor is one Liyakat Ali, part 2 Ch Iboyaima and part 3 Mingyao Ruivanao.
Speaking on the matter, TK Moshilpha informed that the work taken up along the road started from 2018-19 and was supposed to be finished by May 2022.Although black topping has been completed for the part 1 and 2, it is yet to be started in part 3 section even after the projected completion time.
Alleging that the work quality has not been maintained in black topping of the road in part 1 and 2 sections with many areas already showing signs of breaking up, he appealed to the authority concerned to repair the road before it totally breaks down.
TK Moshilpha also pointed out that stones laid in the part 3 section of the 17 km-long -road are of low quality and must be re-laid.
The road should be completed at the earliest with quality control.
He also drew the attention of the RD & PR minister for paying a visit to the area to look into the matter.
