Court seeks details on election petition

Imphal, December 09 2022:
In connection with the election petition filed against BJP candidate Sagolshem Kebi, who won the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election from Naoriya Pakhanglakpa constituency, the High Court of Manipur has framed 7 issues and further directed the parties concerned to submit the names of witnesses and relevant documents by the next hearing of the case which falls on December 22 .
The election petition filed by former Naoriya Pakhanglakpa MLA and NPP candidate Soibam Subhaschandra was heard at the court of Justice A Bimol on December 7, mentioning INC candidate Soiraisham Manaoton and JD(U) candidate Konthoujam Manoranjan as respondents.
After listening to the sub missions of the counsels, the court framed 7 issues on whether Naoriya Pakhanglakpa AC candidate S Kebi provided herreal name in the affidavit of the nomination paper submitted for the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly Election and if not, whether the submission of the erroneous affidavit/declaration affected the election result.
The Court also rejected the application filed by S Kebi with regard to the election petition.
The application was hied objecting to the reapplication of the written statement submitted by the petitioner, requesting the court to reject the reapplication.
It (Court) observed that there was no new pleading or case associated with the petition, and rejected the application as it held no merit.
