Imphal, July 18 2022: A stand off ensued at the District Agriculture Office Imphal East during registration for a token to get fertilizer today.

Farmers had queued in front of the office from early morning with aadhaar card to get registered for a token to get fertilizer from the office, however a confrontation broke out due to slow pace registration process at the office.

Speaking to media.

District Agriculture Officer Laltinmang Doungel said as per directives from the Agriculture Minister, a urea distribution unit was opened on July 8 and enrolment process was started.

However with no urea in stock, distribution was put on hold, and was only started on July 12 when 3500 bags of urea had reached the office.

He' further said that a proper token system was followed in distribution of the fertilizer and that 1500 bags of urea are yet to reach the office.

The DAO added that enrolment will be done everyday from tomorrow (July 19) onwards between 9-11 am.

Distribution will be done if they are in stock, he added.
