Khwairamband chock-a-block ahead of Cheiraoba

Imphal, April 01 2022:
After wearing a deserted scene for around 2 years owing to the Covid-19 pandemic, a huge number of people thronged the Khwairamband market on Friday to purchase religious items and edibles needed for the Sajibu Nongma panba Cheiraoba festival on Saturday.
Speaking to The People's Chronicle in this regard, one woman vendor named Th Bidyalakshmi of Yumnam Huidrom remarked that number of shoppers/buyers was significantly large compared to last year.
The necessary items are being sold at a relatively high rate due to unavailability of the same.
Although the shoppers/buyers have commented on the prices, they are buying them nonetheless.
She then expressed firm belief that the prices could drop if the products are produced adequately, with the pandemic slowly getting under control.
Meanwhile, a shopper conveyed to this daily that as the pandemic is finally subsiding, people could now celebrate the festival wholeheartedly.
On the other hand, majority of the roads leading to and from Khwairamband Keithel experienced heavy traffic jams due to the presence of large number of people.
The traffic police worked hard to decongest the jams.
Mao Keithel was also set up near MBC Church, Chingmeirong.
