KIA cadre nabbed, cash recovered

Loktak Battalion Assam Rifles of IGAR (South) along with team of Churachandpur police station apprehended an active cadre of the armed KIA from Patlen village near Hengjang in Churachandpur district on Thursday.
In a release, PRO IGAR stated that based on specific inputs, troops of AR along with team of Churachandpur police launched an operation which led to the arrest of the cadre, who was actively involved in extortion activities.
The combined team also recovered cash amounting Rs 20,000 from the cadre, who has been subsequently handed over to Churachandpur police station along with the recovered items, it added.
Meanwhile, according to police report, the OG worker of KIA identified as Lalven Hanghal (40), son of Bir Mohon of Patlen village was arrested by Churachandpur Police and 31 AR when he came to collect extortion money around 2.10 pm Thursday.
A case has been registered against the accused in Churachandpur police station and he has been remanded to police custody till August 24 by a Court.
