Training on puppetry ends, Thang-Ta begins

The valedictory function of the 'Production of 10-Days-Training cum Exhibition of Manipuri String Puppetry Hanuba Hanubi Pan Thaba' organised by Moppet Decoration and Cultural Centre (MDCC) under the sponsorship of Department of Art and Culture from September 7 was held at Centre MDCC on Thursday.
In a release, MDCC secretary G Basanta Sharma informed that on the last day, the production of 'Hanuba Hanubi Pan Thaba' was presented.
The programme was attended by retired teacher E Bihari Singh as chief guest, MDCC .vice president G Jugeshwor Sharma as president and Thongkhong Laxmi Municipal Council councillor L Sanajao Singh as guest of honour.
Meanwhile, a 5-day Thang-Ta training programme organised by Apunba Manipur Huyen Lanlong Lup (AMHLL) to prepare students on Bachelor degree in Thang-Ta in Manipur University of Culture, Department of Thang-Ta began at AMHLL head office at Wangkhem Thangjam Leirak on Thursday.
In a release, AMHLL HRD department secretary Thongam Yaiphaba stated that the training programme is being participated by 30 students including two from Assam, who will be under the tutelage of Lup's instructors on classes 9-10, 11-12 Thang-Ta syllabus along with imparting knowledge on various aspects of the martial arts form.
The opening function was attended by AMHLL president Okram Manglem Meetei, vice president professor Y Joykumar Leisemba and general secretary Sapam Inaobi as presidium members, it added.
