AR units observe World Ozone Day

To further spread awareness about preservation of ozone layer, 44 Assam Rifles of 22 Sector IGAR (EAST) in collaboration with Save Rivers Foundation launched seven-day plantation drive in Dikhuiram area of Tamei Sub Division on Thursday in connection with the observance of World Ozone Day.
According to an AR release, the aim of the plantation drive is to spread awareness among people about the depletion of ozone layer and find possible solutions to preserve it.
On the first day, 500 saplings were planted at Dikhuiram village.
Churachandpur Sector of IGAR (S) also observed World Ozone Day and organ ised awareness lectures on prevention of ozone depletion and its impact on climate change at various locations in Churachandpur, Bishnupur and Pherzawl districts on Thursday.
According to PRO IGAR (S), the events were organised to raise awareness amongst local populace on various factors causing depletion of ozone layer which is subsequently contributing in global warming & climate change.
The locals also took a solemn oath, during the event, to reduce carbon footprint in order to save the environment.
