Panthung provides telemedicine and diagnostic services to Covid patients for free

Panthung, an initiative taken up by the Class of 1994 (XII), DM College of Science, Imphal primarily provides telemedicine/teleconsulting services to mild and moderate Covid-19 infected individuals who have opted for home isolation.
The panel of doctors are from different fields of specialization and are spread around the country and the panel is led by Dr Sydney Moirangthem, Additional Professor and in-Charge of Covid Management in NIMHANS, Bengaluru, said a stateme Panthung has so far treated more than 400 patients.
The intervention covers the entire geography of Manipur.
Panthung is only supplementing the treatment facilities and resources provided by the Government of Manipur for Covid-19 infected patients.
Covid patients who wish to seek treatment from Panthung, can log on to the panthung website www.panthung.in and make a simple registration.
A Panthung doctor will contact the patient through voice or video call and discuss the symptoms and line of treatment.
For needy patients, the team at Panthung provides medicines, basic medical equipment, diagnostic tests and ambulance services for free besides providing personalised care.
Follow-up of patients till recovery or till referral to a covid designated hospital and counselling for unaffected or exposed family members are what distinctively differentiate Panthung.
The initiative is funded by contributions from the members of the Class of 1994 (XII), DM College of Science and well-wishers who appreciate their work, including patients who have recovered and like-minded organisations.
North American Manipuri Association (NAMA) has also been the greatest supporter of the cause and has helped with monetary contributions.
Talking about the initiative, Dr Sydney Moiranthem said that Panthung was born out of an emotion when the Covid situation in Manipur was slipping from bad to worse to help mitigate the situation.
