Imphal, August 10 2021:
Reacting to media reports related to convening a meeting on July 7 that led to the formation of an interim council, Joint Administrative Council (JAC) of All Manipur Trade Union Council (AMTUC) and All Manipur Government Employees' Organisation (AMGEO) has clarified it neither convened any meeting nor formed any interim council.
In a release, JAC secretary Th Premchand pointed out that the monthly meeting of the Council every held second Saturday had been stopped due to Covid-19 pandemic.
As such, the JAC was surprised to learn from newspaper report about convening of the meeting, formation of steering committee and interim council in violation of its constitutional structure by some people who are trying to tarnish the image of the council amid the Covid-19 crisis.
Clarifying that Th John Singh who claimed to be the chairman of the interim council had already retired from the JAC, Th Premchand said that his retirement was approved during the general council meeting and special general body meeting of the council.
Thus, Th John is now not related to the council in any way, he maintained and stated that John had also retired from government service in 2018 .
