IED explodes at Agri EE's residence, no casualty

A day after an explosive device was triggered in Nagamapal area, unknown persons exploded another IED at the residence of Ag-, riculture Department executive engineer RK Virendra located at Khurai Thoidingjam Leikai on Friday around 3.50 am.
Fortunately, no human casualty was reported in the blast which caused damage to three four-wheeler vehicles including Suzuki Brezza car (MN01AK 7534), Maruti 800 (MN01K 5171) and a van without registration number parked at the courtyard and near the residential gate.
Windowpanes of the house were also broken by the impact of the blast.
Upon receiving information about the blast, a team of Imphal East police rushed to the spot followed by a team of forensic experts investigating the blast site.
A case has been taken up by Porompat police for further investigation, police informed.
Speaking in this regard, wife of Rk Virendra Usham Santi informed that her husband is presently holding the post of executive engineer at Agriculture Department after getting promotion from CADA assistant engineer.
His retirement is also near, she informed, while adding that she does not know why such attack has been carried out.
Meanwhile, Eastern Popular Club, Yaipha Lamjing Nupi Lup, Apunba Nupi Lup Khurai and Coordinating body Khurai jointly staged a sit-in protest at Ima Thoidingjam Lairema Mandop condemning the bomb attack.
Speaking on the sideline of the protest, Eastern Popular club president Salam Biren dra strongly denounced the act of exploding bomb in the residential area where there is also an oil pump nearby.
Demanding clarification from those responsible for triggering the bomb, Birendra also cautioned of launching intense protest if they failed to do so.
On Thursday, a powerful IED was exploded in front of a spare parts shop at Nagamapal in Imphal city.
No one was injured as the blast took place early in the morning.
