Imphal, September 01 2021:
Maintaining that some high-profile individuals in the government and political circle are misusing their power by exerting pressure on principals of some government higher secondary schools in the ongoing admission process, Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA) has urged all concerned to refrain from indulging in such acts.
In a statement, KSA HRD secretary Sanjoy Khuliakpam said that large number of students are thronging the few government higher secondary schools in Imphal city due to failure of the government to improve infrastructure and functioning of other government schools.
Instead of paying attention in these issues, some high-profile individuals and with political links are even using DO letters to mount pressure on the principals to get admission of students in view of the forthcoming election.
Due to such pressures, there have been irregularities in the admission process in these schools.
KSA strongly condemns such unethical means, it said.
KSA also noted that several students from poor families are facing tough situation in getting admission in these schools.
Even though the government had recently upgraded nine high schools to higher secondary level, no initiatives have been taken up to improve their infrastructure and attract students to these schools.
Instead of taking up necessary measures, DO letters are being sent for transferring students from these recently upgraded schools to the schools in Imphal city, the statement said.
KSA demanded improvement of other government higher secondary schools and accommodate the remaining students and appealed to all concerned to stop interfering in the admission process.
