Ukhrul, July 10 2026:
The Tangkhul civil society organisations (CSOs), comprising the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL), Tangkhul Shanao Long, Tangkhul Naga Awunga Long, Tangkhul Katamnao Long and Tangkhul Mayar NgalaLong, onFriday revoked with immediate effect the noncooperation imposed against the Wung Tangkhul Region (WTR), an administrative unit of the NSCN(IM) .
The decision, effective from July 10, marks the withdrawal of the non-cooperation movement announced on March 31 following the March 28 ambush at Hongbei village in Kamjong district, in which four Tangkhul cadres were killed.
Following the incident, the TNL and its constituent CSOs had issued a 12-day ultimatum to the WTR of the NSCN (IM), demanding that those responsible for the ambush be handed over and justice be delivered to the bereaved families.
With the demands remained unfulfilled and under the public pressure, the organisations imposed the non-cooperation measure against the WTR.
Announcing the revocation, the Tangkhul CSOs said the decision was taken after extensive consultations, taking into account the prevailing situation, the interests of the general public and the continued pursuit of justice for the victims' families.
On behalf of the constituent organisations, the TNL stated that the revocation was aimed at rebuilding trust, restoring peace and strengthening confidence within the Tangkhul community.
