Relief items distributed; medical/blood donation camp held

National Institute of Technology (NIT), Mani-pur registrar Khumukcham Tomba, who is originally from Kakching Khunou Ningthou Leikai, on Satur-day distributed relief items at relief camps opened at Victory High School, Ka-kching; Grace Cottage Academy, Kakching; Ka-kching Higher Secondary School; Sanatombi High School, Keirak; Kakch-ing Khunou Makha High School; and residence of so-cial worker Mayanglambam Binod at Kakching Khunou Angom Leikai.
He was also accompa-nied by members of Mani-pur Weaker Development Trust who examined the inmates to enquire if any of them is suffering from chronic diseases.
Trust member Thangjam Joshikanta stated during the course of distributing relief items at relief camps they encountered many patients suffering from cancer, di-abetes, high & low blood pressure, need for ART, etc..
Hence, the Trust con-ducted the survey to ascer-tain if patients with chronic diseases are staying in re-lief camps so as to provide necessary medicines and to press the government to do the same, he added.
Similarly, people of Ka-kching Khunou Thongam who are staying in Imphal donated relief items to relief camps at Kakching Khunou Makha High School and res-idence of social worker M Binod on Saturday along with donating monetary aid of Rs 5000 each to family members of N Gandhi and M Tiken who died in Sugnu area during shootout.
On the other hand, Nungsi Marup Thoubal and Lanchenba Pharma-cy, Athokpam Khunou organised a medical camp and distributed relief items at Nongpok Sekmai relief camp on Friday while Tat hot Sija Paul Manipur Women's College (TSPM-WC), Mongshangei dis-tributed relief items at the relief camp opened at Wabagai Higher Secondary School, Wabagai, a release by TSPMWC, Mongshangei principal Thiam Nandita Devi said.
The release also men-tioned that Dr Bernard Pot - sangbam, who went along with the relief team of the College, checked the health condition of the displaced people.
A team of First Tech Institute of Information Technology Private Lim-ited, Kwakeithel distribut-ed essential items to relief camps set up at Kakching Khunou and Hiyanglam Girls Junior High School.
The institute also assured to provide free computer courses to the riot-affected students.
Under the supervision of Heirok A/C MLA Dr Th Radheshyam, Peace & Relief Committee Heirok Ken-dra distributed essential items to relief camps set up at PLC Academy Mayai Keithel, Heirok Hr.
Second-ary School, Sekmai Khunou High School, Ningel, Ka - kmayai and Salungpham.
Meanwhile, Ramlal Paul School 1992 batch organ-ised blood donation camp at RIMS on Sunday during which 12 members donated blood.
Health Care Centre, Thoubal Pakhangkhong and Wangmataba Youth Club also organised free health camp at relief camp opened for the riot-affected people at TT hall on Sunday while Sur Hospital Khangabok and Dr Somen Foundation conducted health camp at the Khangabok Higher Sec-ondary School relief camp.
Meanwhile, All Meitei Medicos Union (AMMU), MITSNA -Empowering Lives, Educating Youth and Hiyanglam MLA Dr Yum-nam Radheshyam joint-ly organised a mega free health camp at the Lang-meidong Higher Secondary School Relief Camp.
Several testing facilities were also provided to the victims at free of cost.
