Imphal, June 04 2023:
All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) would be spearheading series of sit-in pro-tests against the separate admin-istration demand raised by 10 Kuki MIAs, in different parts of the state starting from Monday onwards.
Informing this during a press meet at its office on Sunday, AMUCO president Nando Luwang contended that union home min-ister Amit Shah's assurance and remarks were unsatisfactory.
Even though the home minister assured not to compromise on the territorial integrity of Manipur during his visit, the developments after his return to the national capital has raised suspicion of a possible approach towards grant-ing separate administration, which contradicts AMUCO's stand for the unity, territorial integrity and identity of Manipur.
The series of sit-in protests will be held in different parts of the state in order to express the common aspiration of the people of Manipur and to bring better coordination among the masses, he said.
Nando said that during their meeting with the union home minister, AMUCO pointed out the faults on the part of Assam Rifles.
However, he refused to acknowl-edge the proxy war being carried out by Assam Rifles, he said while alleging that the involvement of Assam Rifles encouraged the Kuki militants to intensify their armed assaults on Meetei villages.
He further pointed out involvement of Kuki militants from across the border in the current situation without any crackdown from the Central government on such cross border elements.
The situ-ation indicates strong possibility of Central government chalking out strategies to facilitate sepa-rate administration, but people of the state will never accept such bifurcation at any cost, he affirmed while urging the public to raise a united voice against such plots.
The president also cautioned that the Central government should understand that people of Manipur do not want disintegration of Manipur like they do not want disintegration of the country.
He also urged the communities living in the hill districts not to support the drug cartels and cross border elements, who are trying to estab-lish a terror regime in the state.
