To meet the basic neccessities of the displaced families who have been rendered homeless by the ongoing violence, Peace & Relief Committee Heirok Kendra distributed relief items to the relief camps set up at PLC Academy Mayai Keithel, Heirok Higher Secondary School, Sekmai Khunou High School, Ningel, Kakmayai and Salungpham today.
The Committee distributed food items such as rice, potatoes, cooking oil and other relief materials to the inmates.
Th Chourajit, chairman, Peace & Relief Committee Heirok Kendra stated that under the supervision of Heirok MLA Th Radheshyam, the Committee has been tending to the needs of the relief camp inmates since May 4 .
Saying that peace cannot be restored until the displaced families are safely resettled in their homes to bring back a semblance of normalcy in their lives, he urged people to fall back a bit.
Separately, local clubs of Waithou along with meira paibi associations extended aid to the inmates at Wabagai Higher Secondary School relief camp.
A sum of Rs 20,000 was also donated for the benefit of the inmates who have fled their homes in Serou, Sugnu and Napat in the wake of the recent violence.
The relief items consisted of clothes, food, healthcare products including sanitary pads.
59 Mountain Brigade also extended relief materials to the inmates at Old DC Complex Bishnupur relief camp today along with providing them with medical care and free medicines.
The team led by Brigadier SJ Tiwari also assured to provide the 180 inmates with all necessities on behalf of the Indian Army.
The relief camp inmates expressed their gratitude towards 59 Mountain Brigade for their humanitarian act.
