Imphal, June 04 2023:
Coordinating Committee on Mani-pur Integrity (COCOMI) said that in coordi-nation with the people it will launch intense forms of agitation soon as the government of India is not committed to withdraw Suspension of Operation (So0) agreement signed with Kuki militants.
According to a statement of COCOMI, central forces deployed in the state to contain violence remained mute spectators when Kuki militants along with 'Lungi' clad illegal immigrants attack unarmed innocent villag-ers and torched their houses.
This matter has also been apprised to Union home minister Amit Shah through security advisor Kuldiep Singh with a strong warning, the COCOMI said adding that the anger among masses will eventually subside once Kuki terrorists from outside return to their native country and stop attacking people.
In such situa-tion, arms possessed by civilians to defend themselves from onslaught of Kuki terrorists will also be handed back automatically to relevant authority, COCOMI added.
While asserting that maintaining law and order in the state lies at the hands of security advisor and Unified Command chairman Kuldiep Singh, COCOMI said immediate visible action must be initiated to restore confidence of the people on central forces deployed in the state.
It also appealed state government to take up immediate steps to help the people trust the administrators.
The collateral damage suffered on both the warring communities in defending onslaught of Chin-Kuki terrorists on innocent civilians is being wrongly portrayed by national and international media but such propaganda will not be successful as falsehood does not last long.
In this regard, Meetei people re-siding outside Manipur must make aware the global fraternity on facts about the ongoing violence.
The COCOMI also said that a dele-gation of all political parties should visit Delhi immediately and put pressure on the Centre to understand facts about the violence apart from presenting the same to national media.
