Indian Army organises medical camp, lunch

59 Mountain Brigade on Sunday organised medical camp cum lunch programme at the relief camp set up by Apun-ba Tengbang Lup, Bishnupur at Old DC Complex, Bishnupur for people displaced from Chura-chandpur district.
During the programme, brig-adier SJ Tiwari of 59 Mountain Brigade assured that the Army will provide all facilities required by the 180 inmates of relief camps opened at Bishnupur Public School, Modern Higher Secondary School and Thokchom Ibotombi Institute of Teacher Education and Training.
Speaking to media persons, one of the women staying in the camp conceded that they were initially apprehensive to learn they will be transferred to Old DC Complex, Bishnupur as there is an Army camp nearby and they heard rumours of Army helping Kuki militants.
Contrary to such narratives, personnel of the 59 Mountain Brigade have been very helpful, she said.
On the other hand, Relief Con-trol Centre Central Committee, BislumpurandApunba Tengbang Lup, Bishnupur secretary M Bilki stated that the activities of Indian Army at the relief camps contra-dict general perception against role of the army in the state as they have been taking utmost care of the displaced people.
