Sit-ins call for peace, flay Shah's failure to end violence

A mass sit-in demon-stration was staged by block-ing the road at Yairipok Ningthounai on Sunday de-manding protection of Mani-pur's integrity and resolving the volatile situation by the state and central governments at the earliest.
Speaking at the sit-in or-ganised by Ningthounai Unit-ed Club Organisation (NUCO) in collaboration with local clubs - IYDO, NYO, CPC & SODU along with meira paibi activists, NUCO member Md Anuwar Hussain urged the government to restore peace and normalcy so that all the communities can live together harmoniously as in past.
Similarly, United Meitei Pangal Clubs Organisation (UMPCO) Wangkhem AC or-ganised a sit-in demonstra-tions in support of Manipur's integrity and restoration of peace at Yairipok Heitroipok-pi, Yairipok Bamol Leikai, Yairipok Singa, Phouden and Hayellabuk in Wangkhem assembly constituency on Sunday.
Addressing the partici-pants, UMPCO co-convener Md Riyajuddin asserted that not even an inch of Manipur land should be compromised and declared that in case of threat to Manipur's integrity Meitei Pangal community will fight for the same.
During the sit-in, the par-ticipants held placards and shouted slogans for pro-tecting Manipur's integrity, restoration of peace, state's unity, etc.
On the other-hand, Pat-soi Tuliyaima Century Club on Sunday organised sit-in protest along with a public meeting over the union home minister's failure in taking control of the violence in the state which is continuing un-abated.
According to the Club, the meeting held at Patsoi Part - H football ground adopted various resolutions including urging the government to as-sist those who had been forced to flee their homes along the periphery areas at the earliest; implement NRC in Manipur to identify illegal immigrants; for the government to solve the prevailing violence as soon as possible; no new golden triangle in Manipur; and for Assam Rifles to make their stand clear to the people.
The meeting also con-demned the indiscriminate attacks on the Meetei people by Kuki militants under So0 while taking the guise of eth-nic conflict between Meetei and Kuki communities.
It also condemned union home minister Amit Shah for failing to translate his assur-ances into action regarding ending the cycle of violence .
