Imphal, June 04 2023:
The All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) has announced that they will hold widespread protest demonstrations from Monday (June 5) onwards against any attempt to disintegrate the State.
Addressing media persons at its office at Kwakeithel today, AMUCO president Pheiroijam Nando Luwang said that Manipur should always be under a single administration with its unity and territorial integrity intact.
He further said that the people of Manipur will face all attempts to disintegrate the State.
Saying that peacekeeping initiatives announced by Union Home Minister Amit Shah after holding a series of meetings with stakeholders concerened is not satisfying, Nando Luwang said that the Union Home Minister also didn't give any response to the questions raised by the people.
Claiming that the visit of Amit Shah to Manipur has failed to control the violence, he expressed suspicion that the Union Home Minister might even have started carving out strategies to establish a separate administration after he left Manipur.
Why is the Centre not taking action against the Kuki militants from Myanmar who are attacking civilians openly, Nando Luwang asked.
He also accused the Assam Rifles of doing whatever they want instead of protecting lives.
The Centre might have started devising strategies to bifurcate the State considering the series of events that are unfolding in Manipur in the last couple of days, he claimed.
Asserting that people of Manipur will not allow establishment of a separate administration under any circumstances, Nando Luwang said that AMUCO will organise sit-in protests from tomorrow onwards to exhibit the stand of the people on Manipur's integrity.
Nando urged the BJP Government to keep its promise on making Manipur a bandh and blockade free State.
People might completely lose their faith in the Government if they don't push back the Kuki militants, Nando Luwang asserted.
