Although Rajkumar was injured, no one was aware of his whereabouts, especially as the area he was in had been off limits for days.

According to Thounaojam Rajkumar, after the gunfight at Nazareth on May 28, the people including him went to the location around 3pm assuming that the Kuki mil-itants had left.
Suddenly, there was heavy firing from a nearby house, which struck many of the people.

There was no one at the house and he hid under one of the beds.
He could not contact anyone that he was alive albeit injured.
As no one could enter the area, he administered the first-aid to himself to avoid excessive bleeding and survive the past seven days on water that was inside the house.
