15 file nominations for ACs in Thoubal, Kakching

Thoubal, February 10 2022:
In all, 15 candidates submitted their nomination papers to their respective ROs for contesting the ensuing assembly elections from various assembly constituencies under Thoubal and Kakching districts on Thursday.
Candidates who filed nomination in Thoubal district are INC candidate ex-CM O Ibobi,'BJP's L Basanta alias Bhim and I Chaoba of JD-U for Thoubal A/C; MLA O Surajkumar (INC), Kh Menjor (BJP) and Thokchom Jadumani (JD-U) for Khangabok A/C; MLA Y Antas Khan (BJP) and Shahid Anwar Hussain (INC) for Lilong AC; MLA Paonam Brojen (BJP) for Wangjing Tentha A/C.In Kakching district, NPP candidate MLA M Rameshwar, Y Roma (CPI), Ksh Kennedy (INC) and Y Nilachandra (NCP) filed nominations for Kakching A/C; M Binod Singh (BJP) filed nomination for Sugnu A/C and JDU candidate Sikandar Ali for Wabagai A/C.In all, 33 candidates in Thoubal and Kakching district have filed their nominations till now.
The last date of filing nomination for second phase of election is February 11 and scrutiny will be done on February 14.The last date of withdrawal of candidature is February 16 .
Speaking to media persons after submitting his nomination paper, INC candidate for Kakching A/C Kshetrimayum Kennedy assured that he will not belie the trust of the people and will make all efforts to transform Kakching AC to one of the best constituencies in the state if he got elected.
Moreover, priority will be given towards bringing communal harmony and working on several issues of the state including AFSPA, ILP system and territorial integrity along with the people, he assured.
CPI candidate in Kakching A/C Yengkhom Roma said that she will take firm stand for protection of territorial integrity of Manipur and will focus on the youth in particular to save them from the clutches of drugs and ensure a brighter future for them.
She further pledged to exert pressure for ensuring reservation of seats for women just like in Panchayat and Municipal council.
Yengkhom Roma is the only female candidate in the fray from the ten assembly constituencies of Thoubal and Kakching districts.
Meanwhile, Sugnu A/C BJP candidate Mayanglambam Binod said that he will focus on welfare initiatives of the farmers including development of irrigation to make the constituency a hub of agriculture and also assured of constructing proper road and developing other inadequacies in the constituencies if he got elected.
JDU candidate in Wabagai A/C Md Sikandar AM said that he is contesting the election as works for the people could not be done properly as a pradhan.
He pledged that he will develop the constituency that remains underdeveloped in several sectors.
BJP candidate for Wangjing-Tentha A/C MLA Paonam Brojen said that BJP focuses on making the state to become a self-reliant and resourceful one.
He hoped that BJP government will return to power with absolute majority this time.
Refuting the allegations raised by opposition party about lack of developmental initiatives in the constituency, he said that several developmental works have been taken up in the constituency and will continue to do so.
Several roads have been blacktopped and the remaining one in the constitu ency would be developed properly.
Tap water connection has been provided to many households in the constituency, he added.
He also claimed that he will win the election by a margin of more than 20,000 voters from Congress candidate in the constituency.
