Imphal, September 06 2022:
Planning and Development Authority (PDA) chairman and MLA Lourembam Rameshwor has said that Meetei community needs to develop the habit of extending help to unfortunate and suffering people collectively just as indigenous tribal communities of the state do.
Addressing the gathering at the 52nd Foundation Day of Kyamgei Youth Pioneer Club (KYPC) on Monday, Rameshwor said that tribal communities have developed the habit of helping people at the time of emergency long time back and this habit must be developed among the Meetei community as well.
He said that Meetei community is becoming minority in their own land and this would be loss of opportunity for the community in near future.
While Meetei community lacks unity and has no place for gathering to discuss development and other issues collectively, other communities have gathering places like Churches and Mosques where everything could be discussed on weekly basis, he said and suggested weekly or monthly gathering at forest deity or other convenient places.
The event was also attended by KYPC president Nepram Kisan as president while Kyamgei GP prad han Koijam Ongbi Manisana, Kyamgei Apunba Meira Paibi Lup advisor Th Manisana, KYPC senior advisor Kh Nilkamal Meetei, former AMUCO president Ph Deban Sharma and additional chief electoral officer N Ramananda were present as guests of honour.
