Teachers' Day celebrated

National People's Party (NPP) Unit of Kakching Wairi Ward No 1 organised a Teachers' Day programme at Kakching Wairi Kongoi Community Hall today.
The programme was attended by Mayanglambam Rameshwar, MLA, Kakching AC as the chief guest; Sh Shyamjai, president, NPP Kakching Unit as the functional president and Sh Bidur, retd assistant teacher as the guest of honour.
The gathering, accompanied by the presidium members, paid a floral tribute on the photo of Dr Radhakrishnan whose birthday is celebrated all across the nation as Teacher's Day.
The National People's Party (NPP) Unit of Kakching Wairi Ward No 1 also presented gifts as a token of their appreciation to 14 retired teachers and 52 teachers from Kakching Wairi Ward No 1 .

Speaking as the chief guest, MLA M Rameshwar lauded the teaching profession as one of the most important jobs as teachers are responsible for bringing positive changes in society.
As such, he urged people to have the utmost respect for teachers while also urging teachers to perform their duties sincerely.
Separately, Kaikhup Tingjalhai (KT) Higher Secondary School Kangpokpi celebrated Cultural Day-cum-Teachers' Day yesterday at the school campus at Kangpokpi District Headquarters.
The function was graced by renowned Kuki actor and entrepreneur Paul Haokip, Letlenchung Boichung Lupho and Aseh Chongloi, College Principal was the guest of honour while Doujang Khongsai attended the event as the blessing minister.
Addressing the gathering, Lalam Chongloi, school administrator, greeted all the guests and invitees before highlighting the importance and the vision of the school in organizing the cultural event.
Hoikim Chongloi, the principal's spouse, offered the opening prayer.
Speaking on the occasion, Paul Haokip stressed on the importance of education while Letlenchung Boichung Lupho emphasized on the topic, "my culture, my identity" .
During the event, students from Kindergarten level to senior level, donned their respective traditional attire and displayed the essence of unity in diversity.
It may be noted that hundreds of students from various communities including Kuki, Naga, Meetei, and Nepali study and learn together in this school.
The main highlight of the function was the display of cultural dance and recitation of poems from students of different communities.
Aside from this, Kindergarten students presented a fashion show.
The students of the school also honoured the teachers with the presentation of gifts to show their love and respect.
