Days after Thangmeiband MLA Kh Joykisan left the Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar-led Janata Dai-United (JD-U) and joined the BJP along with four other party MLAs, JD-U members of Thangmeiband Block tendered mass resignation from the party and are reportedly prepared to join the ruling BJP soon.
Addressing a press meet at Khoyathong, here, on Tuesday morning, JD-U Thangmeiband Block member Khullem Nobo said that around 3000 JD-U members of Thangmeiband AC Polling Booth No 41 have resigned from JD-U following the recent shift of their MLA, and they will also join BJP.
They support the decision taken by the MLA as he took the decision after carefully studying the political scenario both at the centre and in the state.
The MLA tried to contest the 12th State assembly election as BJP candidate but he could not get the party ticket.
As a result, he had to contest the election on JD-U ticket.
After winning the election, the party supported the BJP government following which the MLA established a close relationship with the chief minister, he said.
Ward No 1 member Ngangbam Dhananjoy also said that all the JD-U members of the ward support the decision of the MLA and they are ready to join BJP and support the MLA in taking up development activities in the constituency.
