Induction training course workshop held

A two-day induction training course workshop on medical education technology, organised by Medical Education Unit, JNIMS, commenced from Tuesday at JNIMS, Porompat, here.
Speaking at the inaugural function, JNIMS director L Deven informed that the training cum workshop is a calendar event of JNIMS organised under the aegis of National Medical Council in order to enhance patient care, professional ethics and other factors relevant to medical profession for those in the field of teaching medical education.
With reference to participants of the programme comprising doctors in teaching profession of JNIMS Dental College, JNIMS and Churachandpur Medical Colleges, he said present standard of healthcare across the globe will be imparted to the teachers during the training so that they could further educate the medical students efficiently.
It is an attempt to make diligent doctors, who will take good care of patients, out of the medical students.
Sometimes, NMC also send its observers to monitor the training programme, the director said.
All the medical colleges across the country organise similar programmes annually.
Medical Education Unit is headed by the director as the chairman with a professor, who has completed advanced course, as coordinator and the unit have six to seven members.
Without any extra remuneration, those in this unit organise weekly sessions to discuss activities to be taken up by the unit, he added.
Altogether 30 medical teachers are participating in the programme which is being organised under the supervision of MEU JNIMS coordinator professor Supriya Laiphangbam.
On the first day, director L Deven spoke on 'Appropriate use of teaching aids'; dean academics JNIMS professor T Rajen on 'Indian Medical Graduate'; professor Supriya on 'Competency based medical education; professor Barkung Von 'Learning domains and progression of learning'; professor Vidyabati & Dr Ruma Sarkar spoke on 'Interactive arid innovative teaching method including large group, small group'; while Dr Rameshwar spoke on 'Writing a lesson plan' as resource persons.
