Kangpokpi, November 20 2015 :
Civil Society Organization of Sadar Hills have today warned of imposing a bandh on Trans Asian Highway No.1 if the State Government fails to patch up the potholes along the highway within a week.
Speaking to media persons this evening at Kangpokpi, spokesperson of CSOs Sadar Hills, Lamcha Chongloi lamented that they have been repeatedly urging the State Government and the authority concerned to repair the ghoulish road condition of Trans Asian Highway No.1, which is the main lifeline of the State but no measures have been initiated so far on their part.
He said that numerous potholes dot Trans-Asian Highway No.1 causing untold miseries to thousands commuters from various other States as well as local residents.
"The ghastly condition of Trans Asian Highway No.1 also indicates the hands-off attitude of the State Government apart from the departments concerned and contractors", asserted Lamcha Chongloi.
He continued that while some stretches between Kangpokpi -Keithelmanbi and Kangpokpi-Changoubung have been revamped recently the rest has been completely ignored.

Numerous potholes dot the route between Keithelmanbi and Sapormeina via Bongmoul and Leikop and the condition is worse on the route between Sapormeina and Motbung with oversized potholes enough to keel over heavy loaded vehicles, said Chongloi.
The stretch between T Khullen and Senapati DHQs via Taphou Kuki is also dotted with numerous potholes, he added.
The CSOs spokesperson also blamed the department concerned apart from the State Government of not taking up any prompt action to mend the potholes when they are undersized.
While urging the State Government and the department concerned to repair the potholes dotted stretches, Lamcha Chongloi cautioned that the CSOs have decided to impose a highway bandh if it is not repaired within a week.
