Imphal, July 17 2020:
Manipur Pradesh Youth Congress Committee (MPYCC) today staged a protest demonstration at BT Road here today demanding transfer of the drug and cash seizure case involving former ADC Chandel Chairman Lhukhosei Zou to the CBI and resignation of Chief Minister N Biren until the case is disposed.
As MPYCC members led by its president Mahananda Nungleppam marched out of Congress Bhavan raising different slogans against the Government, a large number of police personnel tried to close the main gate of Congress Bhavan.
However, MPYCC members resisted the police attempt to close the main gate which resulted in a tense stand-off between the two sides.

Even as the MPYCC members managed to open the gate and come out to BT Road, they were blocked by police from marching any further.
Later, police succeeded in driving back the protesters inside Congress Bhavan.
Nonetheless, the protesters shouted many slogans apart from carrying placards which read as "Chief Minister N Biren must step down", "Hand over the case of Lhukhosei Zou to CBI", "Save youth from drugs", "We support Th Brinda", "Provide adequate security guards to Th Brinda" etc.
Speaking to media persons by the sideline of the protest demonstration, Mahananda Nungleppam said that the controversy surrounding the case of Lhukhosei Zou has created fear psychosis among the youth.
Although a large number of youth have been fighting the menace of drugs with all the resources at their disposal, the Government has been saying one thing and doing another.
The drug seizure case involving Lhukhosei Zou has exposed how corrupt the BJP-led Government is, Mahananda said.
The Government should not concentrate on amassing personal wealth through unlawful and dubious means while preaching 'war against drugs', he said.
The State's youth will continue to fight against drugs and smuggling of drugs, he asserted while urging Chief Minister N Biren to step down until the case of Lhukhosei Zou is disposed satisfactorily.
The high profile drug and cash seizure case should be handed over to the CBI without any further delay, he added.
