Imphal, April 19 2015 :
JD-U Manipur unit has extended monetary assistance to the bereaved family of Irengbam Purnimashi who collapsed and died soon after while queuing for distribution old age pension money a few days back.
Office bearers of JD-U Manipur unit visited the late pensioner's family at Pishum Ningom Leirak and donated Rs 4,800 .
While praying that the departed soul may rest in peace in heavenly abode, JD-U Manipur president M Tombi urged the Social Welfare Department not to create unnecessary trouble for aged citizens in the name of distributing old age pension.
Saying that the JD-U welcomed the BJP president's visit to the State, Tombi decried that Amit Shah did not speak a single word about any of the major issues afflicting the State at present.
Amit Shah totally omitted the issue of AFSPA even though BJP promised to repeal AFSPA during the election campaign of the last Lok Sabha election.
By skipping the issue altogether, BJP has been deluding the people of Manipur, Tombi asserted.
He also urged the electorate, particularly hill people, not to vote for BJP in the forthcoming election but elect JD-U candidates who are constantly in touch with the public.
He said that JD-U would fight the ADC election on the planks of road connectivity, communication, power, health, water etc.
