Free medical camp organised

Under the project titled "Humanitarian Support to People Affected by Conflict in Manipur", Women Action for Development (WAD) with the support of Action aid and ECHO has organized a one day free medical camp on Sunday at Wangjing Friends Union Club, Tekcham Leikai under Thoubal District, Manipur.
The health camp aims to bring health awareness to the people affected by various conflicts in Manipur.
During the health camp WAD was able to disseminate the importance of the project.
A day before the health camp, volunteer of Wangjing Friends Union Club made an announcement through public address system about the health camp.
WAD was able to mobilize at least 186 patients including 117 women and 69 men from Wangjing village and adjourning.
A number of conflict affected persons who might have psychological problems were also screened by the train caregivers of WAD.
The health camp also provided general awareness about the psychosocial problems, mental illness and their treatments and methods of prevention to the villagers.
Counseling was also provided to more than 150 villagers including 100 women during the health camp.
A team of professionals including Dr.R.K.Surjit, Dr.Annie Bichal Maisnam and Dr..YJotshna from Primary Health Center, Wangjing along with one staff nurse and one Asha Worker from Wangjing have provided their valuable professional contribution.
Free health checkup and distribution of various medicines in free of cost were main service provided during the health camp.
Major health problems were dizziness, abdomen pain, skin disease, fever, hypertension, body ache, joint pain, cough, stomach burning; loose muscle, chest pain, cough, limb ache, etc.
were reported during the health camp.
