SFs nab two PLA cadres

Imphal, March 28 2022:
A joint team of Manipur police commando and Assam Rifles arrested two cadres of the proscribed PLA, the armed wing of RPF, from different places on Monday.
According to police reports, a combined team of Imphal East commando and 16 AR on frisking and checking duty at Uchekon Khunou area halted a suspected person later identified as Pebam Ibomcha alias Awonba (37), son of Kula of Churachandpur for questioning.
The detainee confided that he is an active cadre of PLA and joined the outfit in 2007 under one self-styled major Kunjo.
He also underwent 30-day basic military training and worked under one self-styled captain Jacky at 252 Battalion located at Sindam in Myanmar in 2012 .
After that he was posted again as lieutenant at tactical unit Ongjiya in Myanmar under one major Jona.
The arrested Awonba came to Imphal from Ongjiya two days earlier and came to meet an unidentified person at Irilbung for discussing his next posting, the police revealed.
Meanwhile, a joint team of special commando, Machi PS, Tengnoupal commando and 16 AR led by special commando SP KT Singh arrested a cadre of RPF/PLA from Ringpam village in Chandel district.
The arrested person has been identified as self-styled 2nd lieutenant Wangkhem Naocha alias Ashok, son of W Khomdon of Ukhongsang Mamang Leikai in Thoubal district.
The arrested people have been handed over to the respective police stations for further necessary legal action, it added.
