Benjamin Tao awarded for humanitarian service

Acknowledging the philanthropic services he rendered for humanity, Ngao Benjamin Tao has been conferred the 'Award of Merit' for humanitarian service for the year 2020-21 .
Benjamin Tao is honorary secretary of Indian Red Cross Society, Senapati district branch and he is from Ngamju village under Purul block in Senapati district.
He was also the ex-ADC member from 19-Lakhamai DCC.
Governor La Ganesan presented the award to Ngao Benjamin Tao on August 30 at Raj Bhavan in the presence of officials of IRCS, Manipur state branch, volunteers from Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal and Senapati districts.
In his speech at the awards ceremony, La Ganesan stated that no service is as great and valuable as the service for the poor, needy and less fortunate people while lauding the invaluable services rendered by IRCS.
Ngao Benjamin Tao was recommended for the award by IRCS, state branch in appreciation of his dedication to the service of humanity for the past 25 years without pay or remuneration but on voluntary self-support all these years.
The awardee had served as the district youth co-ordinator from 2000-2008 and honorary secretary of district branch from 2010-14 and 2018-till date.
Ngao Benjamin Tao actively participated in blood donation camp, assisted landslide and flood victims at Mao Gate, Keithelmanbi, Sajaoba, Senapati flood and rescued a girl child, fire victims on different occasions, distributed relief materials during Covid-19 pandemic, took care of corpses at various places on different occasions, assisted injured people due to accidents, evacuated dead bodies to different places and attended various important meetings outside the state without assistance from state or district branch of IRCS.
