Finance Secretary of NSCN-K, Tatar of NSCN-IM nabbed

Kangpokpi, May 28 2014:
Two cadres of NSCN-K including its Finance Secretary were apprehended yesterday evening at around 7:25 by 43 Assam Rifles personnel posted at Kangpokpi near Tumnoupokpi along the National Highway 2 .
They were apprehended with small arms, ammunition, extortion cash and a vehicle, said police source.
The apprehended cadres have been identified as Joseph Rapei (52) s/o Rapei of Purul Akutpa, Senapati District under Tadubi Police Station and Francis Saji (24) s/o Saji A.of Phybung village, Senapati District under Tadubi Police Station.
While carrying out area dominated patrol near Tumnoupokpi along NH-2 yesterday evening, a team of Alpha Company of 43 AR, Kangpokpi came across two suspicious persons in a blue colour Maruti 800 bearing Regd.No.MN04A-0716.On seeing the security personnel approaching them the two suspected individuals tried to flee from the spot which compel the security force to chase after them.
The two suspected persons fired several rounds of bullet towards the security personnel who retaliated.
After exchanging fire for about 20 minutes and the duo surrendered and they were subsequently apprehended along with one 9mm pistol, one magazine and three live rounds and an extorted amount of Rs.1490 in cash.
The vehicle in which they were travelling was also seized.
The arrested duo was later on handed over to Imphal Police Station and they were produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class, Kangpokpi this evening which has subsequently remanded them to police custody for five days.
On the other hand, according PRO IGAR (North), personnel 5 Assam Rifles apprehended one NSCN(IM) cadre from Lutsumi village of Nagaland on Sunday.
The arrested cadre has been identified as Khatovi Sumi, Tatar of NSCN (IM), 60 years, s/o Kokhaha Sumi, a resident of - Lutsumi village, Zunheboto, Nagaland.
The troops Assam Rifles recovered 01 (one) point 22 Pistol with Magazine and 5 live rounds.
The apprehendee was handed over to Zunheboto Police Station.
In another incident, 29 Assam Rifles launched an operation in general area of Purana Bazar and apprehended one arms peddler alongwith one 7.65 mm Pistol, two magazines and assorted ammunition on 25 May 14. The individual was identified as Vitoyi Sema, (42), a resident of Ekaranipathar, Dimapur.
The apprehended individual was handed over to East Police Station, Dimapur, the PRO-IGAR(North) claimed.
