Imphal, May 28 2014:
Refuting the deserter tag on KT Misao alias Palen Misao, the Kuki National Liberation Front (KNLF/KPA-C) asserted that the outfit has no chairman other than KT Misao alias Palen Misao alias M Khupthang Hangmi.
A press statement issued by I&P secretary of KNLF/KPA (C) James Kuki clarified that Tilthang alias Thangjam Khongsai, Tonglenlal Haokip alias Lalmoi and Kolphe Haokip were once cadres of the KNLF/KPA.
However they deserted the outfit with a conspiracy to eliminate the Chairman and misled some cadres and encamped with some sophisticated weapons and took shelter in the KNO/KNA camp.
They later staged a 'surrender drama,' and after that they started a manhunt on the KNLF/KPA (C) in collaboration with the army and KNO/KNA cadres, the statement said.
It also asserted that the KNLF/KPA (C) is one of the Kuki militant organisations which was formed in 2005 under the chairmanship of (L) Ngamkholet Baite with the primary aim to restore the lost territories of the Kukis, and to revive the custom and culture and bridge the Kukis settled in India and Myanmar.
After the sudden demise of Ngamkholet Baite, Lutlal was appointed as the Chairman of the outfit.
In July 2011, the incumbent Chairman, KT Misao was appointed following the death of Lutlal, it said.
The outfit further appealed to the general public not to entertain the deserters in any way while seeking the cooperation of the public to the genuine KNLF/KPA (C) .
