Childline Advisory Board meeting held

Imphal, October 25 2021: Childline Advisory Board (CAB), Tamenglong conducted its first meeting on Monday at Conference Hall, SDO office Tamenglong under the chairmanship of SDO Rohit Anand and attended by District Level Officers (DLOs) Tamenglong and members of the board.

During the meeting, Childline Service Tamenglong coordinator Buan-thanlungliu Panmei elaborated to those present on the vision and mission of the Childline, its objectives and actions, intervention models and child protection activities along with notable achievement till date.

She also mentioned that Childline Service Tamenglong is an emergency service launched on July 16, 2020 and functioning round the clock to assist and rescue children in distress or in trouble through its toll free number 1098 .

Childline team on receiving a distress call reaches at destination within 60 minutes and depending on the cases, rehabilitation, counselling and constant follow up on the well-being of the child is provided.

Childline service targets children in 0-18 years of age.

According to the report, Childline Service Tamenglong (CLST) has reached out to as many as 2500 children and 2000 adults including at far flung areas and has intervened successfully in a total of 82 cases which included missing child and child marriage cases.

It also noted that numbers of children belonging to economically deprived family are provided nutritious items linking them to CCI (depending on the cases) and counselling provided to substance abuse children.

She also highlighted challenges faced by the team in providing services and expressed concern over unavailability of CMPO Tml, networking issues, absence of observation homes and rehabilitation Centre in Tamenglong.

The Childline team also appealed to all the DLOs to extend continuous cooperation in their various capacities so as to make the services more effectives.

SDO Rohit Anand acknowledged all the issues raised by Childline team and assured of full cooperation and support.

He also assured to write to Social Welfare committee to start a rehabilitation centre in Tamenglong.

Rohit stressed that Childline logo be put up in all official websites to spread awareness.

A short video on Child sexual abuse "Komal" in Rongmei dialect was also released during the meeting.
