Bishnupur, July 01 2021:
While appealing to all concerned to distribute PMGKAY and NFSA rice in a fair manner and not to create unnecessary issue on rice distribution again, Consumer Club Bishnupur has warned of initiating legal action if beneficiaries are not denied their entitled PMGKAY rice quota from the month of July.
Consumer Club Manipur, Bishnupur District Branch president Laitonjam Brojen Singh told media persons on Thursday that PMGKAY and NFSA rice for the month of July have already been lifted by FPS agents concerned and about to be distributed to beneficiaries.
He said that legal action will be initiated to penalise FPS agents if found deducting rice quota from beneficiaries.
Addressing media persons at his Keinou Thongkha residence, Brojen said that intervention by politicians and MLAs' nominees in distribution of PMGKAY and NFSA rice is against the provision of the scheme and Fair Price Shop (FPS) agents should be given free hand to distribute rice to beneficiaries.
He further appealed to all concerned to distribute PMGKAY and NFSA rice in fair manner in view of hardship being endured by people during this COVID-19 pandemic.
He pointed out that a written submission in this regard has been placed before DC Bishnupur on June 18 and the DC had issued an order that there should not be any deduction of rice from the month of July onwards.
The DC had also warned of initiating legal action if FPS agents were found deducting rice from beneficiaries, Brojen said and appealed to District Supply Officer and authority concerned to closely monitor distribution of rice in Bishnupur district.
