Imphal, July 01 2021:
As announced earlier, the Federation of Government College Teachers' Association (FEGOCTA), Manipur began boycotting online classes and examinations from today onwards demanding implementation of 7th UGC Pay and Regulation 2018 .
In a statement, the federation stated that the boycott will also cover Dhanamanjuri University.
FEGOCTA reiterated that the federation is boycotting online classes and examinations as no response has come from the Government to issue the orders for implementing 7th UGC Pay and Regulation by June 30 last.
The Adhoc Committee of the constituent colleges of Dhanamanjuri University have also supported the decision of FEGOCTA, it claimed.
Saying that FEGOCTA submitted a letter to the Education Minister, Chief Secretary and others to issue the orders by June 30, 2021 and honour the MoU of March 6, 2021, the statement denounced the 'discrimination, repeated betrayal and delaying tactics of the Government' .
'Why is the Government taking so long to implement the 7th Pay and why orders for implementing 7th UGG Pay and Regulations 2018 were not issued in April,' FEGOCTA asked and questioned if blaming the college teachers is their answer.
Maintaining that implementing UGC Pay and Regulations is one of the means to improve collegiate education in Manipur, the statement added that the 6th FEGOCTA agitation will continue until their demand is fulfilled.
