Senapati Forest Division observes Van Mahotsava

Joining the rest of the country, Senapati Forest Division observed Van Mahotsava by planting different varieties of trees around the Multi-Purpose Hall, Senapati and Mini Secretariat complex.
Senapati Forest Division DFO D John Sha said that as in other parts of the country, the department is joining the celebration of the 72nd Van Mahotsava and the weeklong event will continue with planting of more trees of different varieties at about 15 locations in the district.
D John informed that the office will distribute seedlings to the public and urged villagers, CSOs and NGOs to plant more trees during this season.
There are a lot of issues relating to global climate change which call for awareness among the people as well participation in the fight against climate change.
Trees stabilise the soil, conserve water, serve several purposes and boost economic activities, the DFO added.
DC Senapati Mahesh Chaudhari extended greetings to the Senapati Forest Division on the occasion.
The Senapati Forest Division is planning to plant some 20,000 trees during the weeklong observance.
The DC also urged all the villagers and citizens of the district to take keen interest in taking care of plants and plant more trees, adding that the DFO and his team are ready to give tree saplings to anybody.
While assuring support, the DC lauded the department concerned for making progress in its endeavours.
