AR, Chandel pedallers promote Fit India Movement

Imphal, August 08 2021:
Chandel Battalion of Assam Rifles organised a cycle rally as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebration in collaboration with Kapaam Development Club and Chandel Cycling Club to promote Fit India Movement and spread awareness on Covid-19 on Sunday.
According to PRO IGAR (S), the 85 km long cycle rally was flagged off from Chandel and covered Pallel-Ka-kching-Khongjom War Memorial route, culminating at Modi village in Chandel district.
In all, 32 cyclists including 29 civilian members of the local clubs participated in the event.
The cyclists passed through prominent places and halted in remote villages to spread awareness on India's Independence movement as well as Covid-19 protocols, said the PRO adding that the youth clubs of Chandel expressed their gratitude towards Assam Rifles for organising the motivating and patriotic event.
Speaking during the flag off ceremony, 18 AR CO Ajit Khatri, who also took part in the rally along with Major Sudhan P, emphasised the need for Covid awareness and fitness to the participants.
Chandel Cycling Club was founded in 2020 with the motto Ride A Bicycle: Save The Earth'.
The club's Instagram page reads- "We are a kinder, gentler bicycle club for anyone who wants to pedal, meet fun, non-judgmental people, and search for lattes.
We are sizes and abilities".
Telien Binky, the founder of C3 appreciated the 18 AR and all the participants for making the club first official ride a success.
According to him, more of such cycle rides in future with more participants are envisaged to spread the message of fitness and environment friendly lifestyle.
