Kakching ex-MLA leads plantation of decorative plants

As part of the ongoing tree plantation drive to convert Kakching AC into a green zone, former MLA of the constituency Yengkhom Surchandra led plantation of decorative plants at Kakching Garden on Sunday.
The tree plantation drive was also participated by Rose Garden Yurembam proprietor Laishram Diwakar, Kakching Municipal Council ex-councillors Pukhrambam Sanahal, Kshetrimayum Radhamani and Thangjam Kananbala, Joint Non-Government Voluntary Organisation (JNGVO) Kakching president Kshetrimayum Biren and other members.
Volunteers of AH Kakching Students' Union (AKSU), Kakching Khunnai Chaokhathanba Lup (KKCL), Uyok Chingya Club (UCC) Kakching Turel Wangma and Kakching Garden Development Trust also took part in the plantation drive.
According to Y Surchandra, costly decorative plants were planted at Kakching Garden with the main objective of beautifying the garden and making it environment friendly.
He said that very costly decorative plants including those imported from China like Terminalia Mantanly (Tri Colour) were planted at the garden.
Environment friendly trees like Bokul, Neem and Umnrella were also planted and these trees were brought and imported after consulting Rose Garden proprietor Diwakar, he added.
He further said that the tree plantation drive to make Kakching a place filled with green trees, more beautiful and environment friendly has been continuing and decorative plants were earlier planted at different areas of Kakching in coordination with AKSU, KKCL, JNGVO and other CSOs.
Decorative plants were also planted at Sora area of the constituency earlier, he said, adding that 90 percent of the trees planted earlier are growing satisfactorily.
