ICAR-KVKs organise Farmers' Fair; distribute inputs

Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR)-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Imphal West organised a Farmers' Fair under the theme 'Kisan Bhagidari, Prathmikta Hamari' campaign as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav at ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region Manipur Centre on Tuesday.
As a part of the fair, agricultural inputs like water pumps, farm tools, rice and vegetable seeds, micronutrients, sprinkler sets, power and manual knapsack sprayer, bee boxes, chicks, mini rice mills, vermicompost and enriched FYM were distributed to over 200 farmers from Imphal West district during the programme.
Moreover, new processed food products including king chilli sauce and guava tea of ABI Agripreneurs-Ngayam Foods and Shirin Product respectively were also launched while 10 progressive farmers including three FPOs under KVK Imphal West were felicitated as mark of their contribution in the field of agriculture and allied activities.
In all, 26 farmer exhibitors and agripreneurs showcased their products in the exhibition which ended with a farmer-scientist interaction programme on the topics of organic farming, natural farming, awareness on bio fortified crops and technical discussion on millet crops.
Similarly, ICAR-KVK Chandel organised a district level Farmers' Fair under the theme 'Kisan Bhagidari, Prathmikta Hamari' as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav on Tuesday.
As part of the programme, the inauguration of an online webinar on 'Kisan Bhagidari, Prathmikta Hamari - Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav' was also attended by 220 farmers.
Thereafter, a farmer-scientist interaction meet was organised followed by a technical session by KVK experts.
Meanwhile, KVK Imphal East under the aegis of Central Agricultural University (CAU) conducted a Farmers' Fair cum Farmer-Scientist Interaction programme at its campus at Andro on Tuesday.
The programmed held as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav was presided by KVK Imphal East head in-charge senior scientist S Molibala.
Speaking on the occasion, S Molibala informed that the fair is being held as part of 'Kisan Bhagidari, Prathmikta Hamari' campaign launched by Union Ministry of Agriculture on Monday, which will go on till April 30 in all 731 KVKs of the country.
The event will not only include exhibition but also farmers-scientist interaction on natural farming and is being participated by around 150 farmers of the district, she added.
A video of Union minister of agriculture Narendra Singh Tomar's speech on the launch of 'Kisan Bhagidari, Prathmikta Hamari' campaign was shown to the attendees along with distribution of bio-liquid fertilisers and bee boxes at the programme.
During the technical session, CAU Agronomy Department HoD Prof L Nabachandra spoke on 'Importance and Significance of Natural Farming in Present Context' and S Molibala on 'Millet as an Important Nutri-Rich Crop and its Prospect for Value Addition' .
The Farmers' Fair was also organised in KVKs of Ukhrul and Tamenglong with different stalls of FPOs, private/NGOs, SHGs, etc., showcasing their products.
Various agricultural inputs were also distributed to farmers during the programme.
