As per provisions of the party's constitution, incumbent MLA of Keishamthong assembly constituency Langpoklakpam Jayantakumar has been appointed as working president of National People's Party (NPP), Manipur unit.
NPP Manipur unit president N Kayisii has issued an order in this regard.
When contacted over this development, Jayantakumar informed The People's Chronicle that the appointment was made as per instruction of NPP national president Conrad Sangma in view of difficulties being faced in executing party's activities and delay, if any, due to second wave of COVID-19 .
NPP state unit president N Kayisii is from Senapati district and he is unable to personally attend to party's activities due to COVID-19 pandemic and this prompted the party to appoint a working president of the state unit and the post has been handed to him, Jayantakumar said, adding that the party will start discussion on manifesto and candidacy for assembly election to be held in early part of 2022 .
