Imphal, June 02 2021:
Chief Minister N Biren has categorically stated that President's Rule must be imposed in West Bengal as democracy has been thrown out of the State.
The Chief Minister was speaking at a meeting organised by BJP Manipur Pradesh at their Nityaipat Chuthek office today on the large-scale poll related violence seen in West Bengal in the run up and during the State Assembly election.
Similar meetings were held through video conferencing in many other States too.
Large scale pre-poll and post-poll violence unleashed by Trinamool Congress under the leadership of Mamata Banerjee made a mockery of democracy, Biren said.
"On behalf of the people of Manipur and BJP Manipur Pradesh, I strongly condemn the atrocities and violence unleashed by Trinamool Congress workers at the behest of their leader Mamata Banerjee", he said.
Even though the whole of India is proud of being the biggest democracy in the world, the Government of West Bengal made a mockery of democracy in their State, he said.
West Bengal must be taught a lesson by imposing President's Rule in the State, he asserted.
Law and order being a State subject, the Government of West Bengal should have maintained law and order properly but 37 people were killed in post-poll violence.
Democracy no longer exists in West Bengal, Biren remarked.
The NDA Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has completed seven years and there is not a single instance of human right violation in any part of the country all these years, Biren claimed.
Driven by a single-minded objective to secure majority and retain power, Trinamool Congress resorted to all kinds of strong arm tactics and many people were killed.
A number of women were raped.
Moreover, it was seen in social media how Trinamool Congress workers tortured many people and forced them to vote for the party, he continued.
On several instances, Mamata Banerjee embarrassed and humiliated many BJP leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Pointing out that Mamata Banerjee was defeated in the election, Biren maintained that she ought to resign from the post of West Bengal Chief Minister on moral ground.
The meeting was attended by many BJP leaders of both the State and the Centre.
