Womans body donated to JNIMS

Imphal, March 28 2022:
For the first time, a lifeless body has been donated to Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) for education and research purpose on Monday.
According to JNIMS authority, the donated body is that of late Nongthombam Tamolini Devi (75) of Oinam Awang Leikai in Bishnupur district.
While she was alive, she wrote a will on August 30, 2019 to donate her body to JNIMS for education and research purpose by the medical students on August 30, 2019 .
JNIMS department of anatomy Dr G Tarunkumar and non-teaching staffers received the body from her residence on Sunday with the approval of her son N Sur-chand on Monday.
Speaking in this regard, JNIMS director professor L Deben informed that under the leadership of CM N Biren, who is also the president of JNIMS society, initiatives have been taken up to develop the hospital and ensure that its facilities are availed effectively by the people, the poor in particular.
Moreover, several works have been taken up for providing quality education to the MBBS students.
As such, many good Samaritans are willing to donate their bodies for MBBS students to ease in their learning, the director opined.
He further said that Tamolini is the first one who donated her body and informed that 26 people have already submitted their will' to donate their bodies to JNIMS anatomy department.
