CM, others greet doctors

Chief minister N Biren Singh has greeted all the doctors of the state on the occasion of National Doctors' Day 2021 which is celebrated on July 1 every year to mark the birth & death anniversary of renowned physician and second chief minister of West Bengal Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy and to show gratitude to all the doctors for selfless work and dedication towards serving humanity.
This year it is celebrated under the theme 'Save The Saviours' .
In his greetings, N Biren said that during the Covid-19 pandemic, this day holds a special significance considering the fact how the doctors and physicians work round the clock to help the state fight the health crisis.
Doctors have been facing hard times during the pandemic, trapped in the uncomfortable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for hours every day, treating COVID and nonCOVID patients and giving online consultation strengthening hope and faith.
"They forget their own fears and pain while healing patients, putting their own lives at risk with selfless determination while also cutting themselves off from their families and loved ones for days together.
During this long fight, our country has lost over 1500 doctors to the pandemic," Biren said.
He urged the people to resolve to make task of the doctors easier by keeping oneself safe from the pandemic and to provide them a safe environment to enable them to deliver the services expected from the medical fraternity.
Health & Family Welfare principal secretary V Vumlunmang also greeted the doctors of Manipur and conveyed gratitude to each doctor and wished them good health, wisdom and fortitude to carry on their noble task.
On the occasion of National Doctors' Day, Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) also extended warm greetings and paid respect to the doctors.
According to a statement of MSF, doctors have been putting their lives at risk in trying to save people amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and the service rendered by them and their responsibility at this crucial period are invaluable.
There is no word to describe their dedication for mankind and accordingly doctors are being considered as the God to patients, the statement said and stressed the need for understanding and honouring doctors for their role and responsibility amidst the pandemic.
MSF also called upon people to take utmost precaution so as to curb COVID-19 by strictly following government issued guidelines and getting COVID-19 vaccine to get rid of the virus and defeat it collectively.
It also appealed to government to take up welfare measures for frontline workers and doctors and enhance medical equipment so that doctors could treat patients with ease.
