Sensitization prog for untrained teachers held

District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Senapati, Government of Manipur organised a 'one day district level sensitization programme for mandatory training of untrained elementary teachers' at its Conference Hall today.
Dr V Alexander Pau, MLA of Karong A/C and Kholia Larho (IAS), CEO, ADC Senapati were respectively the Chief Guest and President of the inaugural function of the training programme which was also attended by Md Jackruddin, Superintendent of Police, Senapati; S L Rangsong, CEO, Senapati and Ngahchong Kipgen, ZEO, Kangpokpi as guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Alexander appealed to all untrained teachers of the district to undergo training programme within 2015 in order to fulfill the norms of Right to Education Act.
He also expressed dissatisfaction that no concerned officials from NCERT and IGNOU turn up to attend the sensitization programme.
Kholia Larho stressed on the need for coordination among the concerned officials to make the training programme effective in Senapati district.
An IGNOU Centre would be opened at DIET Senapati from July 2013 and all the in-service teachers would have the opportunity to undergo training, he announced.
Highlighting the importance of such sensitization programmes for untrained teachers, Ngahchong Kipgen expressed the desire to organise such type of training programme for untrained teachers of Sadar Hills at Kangpokpi as well.
Around 200 untrained teachers and officials attended at the programme.
