PNNMI holds solidarity prayer for six deceased civilians

The Poumai Naga Naotumai Me, Imphal (PNNMI), organised a solidarity prayer meeting at the JNIMS morgue on August 16 in solidarity with the six Naga civilians whose mortal remains have been kept at the morgue since their recovery.
Held from 11 am to 3 pm under the theme, "But let justice roll like a river and righteousness like a never-failing stream" (Amos 5:24), the prayer meeting formed part of an ongoing solidarity programme by Naga women at the JNIMS morgue while awaiting justice for the deceased and their bereaved families.
Different Naga women's organisations have been assigned daily rosters to organise prayer meetings at the morgue, ensuring continuous solidarity with the families and reiterating the demand for justice.
The programme was attended by members of the Poumai Naga Union, Imphal, senior Poumai leaders, members of the Poumai community, church leaders, students and representatives of various organisations, including the Poumai Naga Tsiidoumai Me (PNTMI), Poumai Naga Officers' Association.
Imphal, (PNOAI), Rongmei Naga Luphuam and womenfolk from Konsakhul.
A wreath-laying ceremony and presentation of a photo frame were held in remembrance of the six deceased.
Speaking at the gathering, D Tsiiny, Women Chairperson of Mao Poumai Baptist Church, Langol, expressed solidarity with the six Naga brothers and shared the grief of their bereaved families.
She stressed the need for communities to stand together during times of grief and urged the Naga community to ensure that the deaths and sacrifices of the six men do not go in vain.
Calling for greater unity among the Naga communities in Manipur, she said the incident should mark "the beginning, not the end" of renewed strength, unity and love among the people in honour of the lives lost.
She also prayed for justice and for strength, comfort and peace for the bereaved families.
Konsakhul Chairman D Adam briefed the gathering on the sequence of events following the abduction of Konsakhul villagers from Leilon Vaiphei village on May 13, including the release of the women and subsequent recovery of the mutilated remains of the six Naga men.
Lamenting the delay in delivering justice, Adam called for unity among the Naga people in pursuing justice and urged that the mortal remains of the six men be handed over to their families and laid to rest at the earliest.
A special prayer session was led by Rev RL Simon, during which attendees observed a minute of silence in reverence for the deceased.
Representatives of the Poumai Naga Union, Poumai Naga Officers' Association, Imphal and Poumai Naga Tsiidoumai Me, Imphal also called for stronger bonds and unity among the Naga communities, while condemning the killings and expressing solidarity with the bereaved families.
They affirmed the Poumai community's continued support for the victims and their families in their demand for justice and accountability.
President of Rongmei Naga Luphuam, Imphal, Lanjangmeilu Gangmei, expressed gratitude to those who attended the programme and urged the people to continue standing together in unity as Nagas.
R Regina Alex, Advisor, PNNMI, delivered the vote of thanks, while Rev H Sipri pronounced the benediction, bringing the prayer meeting to a close.
